Empire Hotel to Host
The Empire Hotel and Country Club is set to host Aberdeen Brunei Senior Masters
The Aberdeen Brunei Senior Masters presented by the Stapleford Forum will once again take place at the Empire Hotel & Country Club for the 3rd consecutive year. This year the event will run from Friday 4th – Sunday 6th March 2011.
The course at the Empire is a Jack Nicklaus designed course which has hosted the Brunei Open on the Asian Tour since 2006. In testament to this magnificent course, golfing legends Sam Torrance, Sandy Lyle, Ian Woosnam as well as reigning champion, BoonchuRuankgit will all return to play in the Aberdeen Brunei Senior Masters.
Preparations for the event are going according to plan; both on and off the course. Despite the best efforts of the Brunei weather, conditions over the past few months have has not affected the course, simply made preparations a little more intense.
The Empire was recently voted ‘Best Golf Resort’ in the ‘Asia Pacific’ category in the 2010 Asian Golf Monthly Awards. The awards in December last year were voted for by readers with more than 20,000 votes being cast online. This is a timely award given the activity occurring at Brunei’s most respected golf course this year. The Empire has also been selected to host a round of the Faldo Asia Series. The selection is largely due to the venue’s proven track record in hosting international events such as the Aberdeen Brunei Senior Masters.
In addition, 2011 will see the launch of the Empire’s own golf academy. The golf academy will take the form of a school with a choice of programs for exclusive golf group lessons or individual private lessons. The academy will run as a normal school day would but will be based around golf with lessons in the morning and teaching rounds in the afternoon.
